Writing Skill Mid-Term Test

I. An Adverb : is a part of speech or a word which describes or gives more information about a aver, adjective, adverb or phrase.
- There are 6 types of adverbs:
       1. Adverbs of Manner (How)
       2. Adverbs of Place (Where)
       3. Adverbs of Time (When)
       4. Adverbs of Frequency (How often)
       5. Adverbs of Probability (How sure)
       6. Adverbs of Degree (Modify)

II. Paragraph : is a group of related sentences that develop the writer's main idea, opinion, or feeling about a subject.
-  A paragraph consists of three kinds of sentences. There are :
       1. The topic sentence: is the most general statement of the paragraph. It is the key sentence because it names the subject and the controlling idea.
       2. The supporting sentences: develop the topic sentence by giving specific details about the topic.
       3.  The concluding sentence: tells the reader that the paragraph is finished. The concluding sentence is like the topic sentence because both are general statements.
       - The concluding comment: is the writer's final comment or though about the subject of the paragraph.
III. Types of paragraphs:
        1. narrative paragraph: tells us about the story.
        2. descriptive paragraph: is used to describe what something looks like.
        3. expository paragraph: explains something to the reader.
